Far and Away: A scrappy Irish occupant farmer hooks up, in doubtful style, with the comparably feisty daughter of a prosperous landowner, and together they travel to America to seek their final fate in the 1893 Oklahoma land rush. Superlative platform for Tom and Nicole, who are both attractive and involving; the problem is a drastic absence of good dialogue to fill the gaps between fight scenes. Cast includes Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman, Thomas Gibson, Robert Prosky, Barbara Babcock, Cohn Meaney, and Rance Howard. (140 minutes, 1992)

The Great Lie: Brent weds Davis after breaking off an engagement with Astor. Astor is carrying his child. He is lost in a plane crash, leaving Davis and pregnant Astor to battle each other and all the complications. Natural Born Killers: Mary Mallory is a teenager with an abusive father. After falling in love with Mickey, they viscously murder Mary’s parents. Now they are on the run along Rt. 666. As they run, they go on killing sprees, usually leaving one person alive that can recount the events. As time continues they become a media sensation, almost national heroes.

Cursed: Modern day werewolf on the loose tale is a rare miss for Craven and author Kevin Williamson. Film starts out entertaining however eventually becomes ridiculous as the nubile young sufferers should battle back to become human once more. Already non contemporary movie is set at the old Craig Kilborn chat show, where Ricci is investing in what sounds like nights prepping an interview with Scott Baio. It’s that sort of film, people. Cast includes Christina Ricci, Portia de Rossi, Mya, Shannon Elizabeth, Solar, Daniel Edward Mora, Jesse Eisenberg, and Joshua Jackson. (97 minutes, 2005)

In Enemy Country: So-so WW2 story, set in France and England, filmed on a back-lot. Not extremely persuading. Cast includes Tony Franciosa, Anjanette Comer, Man Stockwell, Paul Hubschmid, Tom Bell, and Emile Genest. (107 minutes, 1968)

Summer: A tender however whiny actress is forgotten about by her buddies on the eve of a group holiday, so goes it alone with disastrous outcomes at first. Seemingly more improvised than the older version. Cast includes Marie Riviere, Lisa Heredia, Vincent Gauthier, Beatrice Romand, and Carita. (96 minutes, 1986)
