Computer Television Software

By Janine Balfour

For running the television programs from inside the computer, the user needs to use specially written program or software. By using a TV card, the computer can be used for watching television, but that is only for cable connection; not online channels. For the online channels, the viewer needs to have a good internet connection and a well written software.

Instead of using the traditional cable lines with a TV card, most of the computer users like to watch the television programs in their programs through internet. However, to watch online computer television, the net speed must be very high; because, live video streaming needs more connection speed than watching YouTube.

The paid software have thousands of channels; covering almost every country in the world. Some of the vendors require a onetime payment from the buyer for their software. Some of programs need monthly charge or yearly license renewal. But in any sense, they are less costly than the traditional cables. The channels are usually free to use. Some of the channels offer hi-definition videos and most others have usually television quality.

Another important reason for the popularity of the conventional television sets is the price. For average customers, the price of the computer is much more than a normal TV set. And for many of them, the operating system of a computer is much more complex than the TV.

The computer television software provides some extra features to the user. It can record and store the video for the user to see it later. The user can modify the settings to get full screen, zoom, widescreen etc. Some have cropping and minor editing options. The viewer can surf through the database to find any suitable channel and store it in the favorite section to find it later.
