This decade proves to be a critical part in our modern history as political changes influenced the world, country feuds became wars, and political leaders rose to power and vied for world supremacy. The history of the 1930s is very colorful and very significant.

A few decades back, the British was still the most influential country in the world. They had the most powerful naval and ground forces. But slowly, the British dominions gained independence and the British sovereignty slightly diminished. But even as the colonies gained their own sovereignty, British influence was never lost and the monarch was still powerful even in the 2nd World War.

A lot of architectural achievements were also made during this decade. The Christ monument on the hilltop of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil was finished in 1931. During this same year, skyscrapers started racing towards the sky as the Empire State Building was completed. During the same decade, Hoover Dam started becoming functional and the Golden Gate Bridge opened holding the title as longest bridge in the world.

Science and Technology was never left behind in this decade. The developments were significant enough to help countries rise and fall. Carl Anderson discovered the positron back in 1934 which served as the first empirical proof of the existence of antimatter. The science of molecular biology was created by remarkable scientists from Caltech. During this same decade, scientists also learned how to split the atom, which paved the way for nuclear bombs and nuclear power plants.

All of the events in 1930s history are products of political economic developments. The Great Depression of the 1930s made the U.S. Government learn that it needs to rise to power in order to recover. John Maynard Keynes came up with his new economic theory in the mid-30s. Japan invaded China and the rest of southeast Asia in order to gain political and economic power. Germany also rose to power as Adolf Hitler became the Chancellor of Germany in 1936. Communism reached a milestone as Mao TseTung inspired millions of Chinese Peasants with his Long March. World War II started before the decade ended

Everything that happened is a product of causality. The developments in the 1930′s came about as political and economic needs developed. Changes will always happen as there is only one thing constant in this world – change.

When talking about history, we must always remember that events take place because of political and economic reasons. Click here to understand more the 1930s history
