Music is a major part of our lives. In fact it is the fourth great material want of human nature. Food is first on the list. Then behind food comes clothing, shelter, and music. According to Oxford University studies music is the best mind trainer. Only ten percent of students attending the university study music, however this ten percent takes seventy-five percent of all the school scholarships and prizes. Music aids children in their human development in different ways. We will identify how music affects our minds from childhood up to adulthood.

We all know how pleasing music can be to the ear. Tones are pleasing because they are vibrations of evenly spaced sound. A psychologist will tell you that anyone can play music. In fact there is no such thing as a tone-deaf human being, properly taught. Every child can play a musical instrument, and any small amount of musical training helps a child become a happier adult.

What’s great about music is it provides people with a wonderful means of self-expression. It gives one an emotional outlet that is never lost. Response to music arrives early in life. You may remember your child clanging on pots and pans, or maybe you did it yourself. This is the child experiencing the joy of music even early on and expressing themselves with rhythm and sound.

Music class is just as important in school as Geometry, Biology, Trigonometry, and all those courses filled with information you probably don’t remember. Interestingly enough music students are almost always found at the head of their classes in other studies. Absolute coordination of eye, ear and hand is required of the music student. The young boys and girls who play an instrument never lack for company or amusement. They are usually the center of each group.

Music industry statistics are indicative that there are more musicians in the U.S. than there are ministers or lawyers. In fact, there are five times as many musicians than there are journalists, which is not including the 32 million amateur musicians. The profession of teaching music is more lucrative than teaching any other subject alone. Music brings enjoyment to so many people across the globe.
