The Particular Progression Of The Motion Picture Theater

By Dolores Ortega

What began as a carnival novelty within the latter part of the 19th century has evolved into a billion dollar sector that entertains the earth, in the theaters and at home.

The actual precursors of motion pictures were needless to say, the plays and also the dances. In the earliest days of motion pictures, the technology to merge both sounds and the graphics was non-existent. In fact, in the first 3 decades of films, just the famous silent films existed.

Furthermore, at the start the films were shown in slides, necessitating reel changes as well as other interruptions in the movies. Nonetheless, soon the cinemas popped up across the country and people paid for the opportunity of movie entertainment.

And later arrived the iconic drive-in movie theaters and the fun of enjoying motion pictures outdoors. For quite some time the only way to watch a motion picture was to go to the movie theaters or the drive-in movies. Every now and then a great motion picture would be broadcast on the television networks but not all motion pictures went to TV.

Within the 1980′s, technological innovation began to slowly get to the stage where we could begin to watch motion pictures at home. The VCR became available in the eighties however few people owned them and often the way to enjoy a movie at your house was to rent the VCR and the movie at the same time.

This kind of change of being able to see motion pictures at home was met with much opposition from the film studios as any changes in the way motion pictures could be viewed was viewed as a menace to earnings. In fact in the early 80s the film studios attempted to legally ban home ownership of VCRs as a violation of copyright laws. These folks unsuccessful and in the end embraced the concept of enjoying movies in your own home as a significant “second venue” for income.

However in the last 3 decades, the at home motion picture entertainment industry has advanced dramatically. We have seen the advent of the huge video retailers like Blockbuster, the mail-in membership services like Netflix and now you’ll be able to download films straight to your computer via the internet.

Downloading motion pictures straight from the web is simple and convenient. You can forget late fees, or having to wait for a film you want. You can get almost any movie ever released on video at any time and you’ll be enjoying within a short period of time right from the comfort of your own house.

Inevitably, motion picture downloads through legal sites is actually more secure and a lot more economical.
