Panasonic TX-PV42V10 has a very slim design, as NeoPDP plasma panels’ offer a sleek, compact overall display. The widest portion of the Panasonic TX-P42V10 screen measures a mere 8. 5 cm. It begins at the top, measuring 5. 5 cm, and the chassis portion houses many design features.

Thin and frameless, the screen design on the Panasonic TX-P42V10 is a very compact 42in, great for reduction in energy consumption as well as low weight. The overall design is sleek, smooth and very compact. There are classy silver accents across the top of the screen, and a polish, buffed silver pedestal for stability and appearance at the bottom of the screen itself.

A very plentiful options screen shows all the standard viewing modes. You’ll find Cinema, Dynamic, Game and Normal there. Also, the Panasonic TX-P42V10 offers up the THX view, for a crisp, sharp picture, great clarity, and conforming to the THX standard. Using the Ethernet port, you can also utilize many networking features, and there are four HDMI ports as well.

There is also a SD card reader for reading multimedia files, tuners for analogue, as well as Freeview and Freesat, and a digital audio output. The remote that comes with the plasma is very neat and organized, for ease of options. Using Freesat, one can easily access free, high definition programs via a satellite service, and the Panasonic TX-P42V10 offers a fantastic display of these for users.

Viera Tools and Viera Cast options make the Panasonic TX-P42V10 even better then previous plasmas that did not include these features. There are buttons directly on the remote for ease in calling up the functions. Viera Cast also makes it possible to access internet content via the plasma tv itself, utilizing a broadband connection. More options may become available, but at present, users can access local weather, Eurosport, Picasa Web Albums, Youtube, Bloomberg and Tagesschau. These are two functions that certainly enhance the overall viewing experience.

This has been reviewed by some as being the best “web TV” function seen in recent years. Being able to use the media server function, it’s also an option to not only access the content from these sites, but share with your network. There’s also a really exceptional direct playback option with AVC-HD that can be used with DivX files, or using the SD card.

Another function allows for videos to be expanded full screen, quality dependent on the actual video format itself. One of the biggest problem that people have found with most tvs, is that screen burn is a problem with gaming. However, this plasma shows true, and has great resistance to screen burn. In addition, it is also getting some great reviews because it has very little input lag, and no matter which setting is used, provides a tremendous gaming function.

On the whole, the Panasonic TX-P42V10 shows to be a better way to HDTV plasma. There are many functions, clear sound, and a well defined, sharp and crisp picture. The design is slick, powerful and loaded with options. With the addition of THX mode, the additional ports and other benefits, this is a sound investment.
