The 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 was recently awarded top safety honors by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The organization ranks vehicles on a scale from one to five and the Sierra received the highest possible score of five. The organization’s New Car Assessment Program tests a variety of a vehicle’s safety features that contribute to the overall usability and reliability of a vehicle.
The Car Assessment Program reveals how a vehicle truly stacks up in collisions and other damaging situations. It also measures the vehicles performance in collision and damage prevention tests. The 2014 GMC Sierra went through the assessment and came out with the top score, proving that the newest 2014 GMC Sierra is one of the best in its class.
Some of these exceptional safety features include things like the Forward Collision Alert which helps keep drivers a safe distance away from the car that is driving in front of them. This helps prevent a driver from rear-ending another. Land Departure Warning is another top rated accessory. This precautionary device installed in each vehicle warns drivers if they begin to veer off into another lane. This can help prevent collisions that occur from the side. The Sierra will also come with OnStar installed that can provide roadside assistance, automatic crash response or emergency services link. All of these features were designed with the highest level of safety in mind. GM general director, Gay Kent, stated the following: “Our incredibly capable trucks have been engineered to be some of the safest…This level of vehicle performance is complemented by a full array of other advanced safety features to help protect our customers.”
Potential buyers know that 2014 GMC Sierra model is not lacking in any important aspects of safety. However, they should also note that safety isn’t the only facet of the new Sierra that recommends it to other buyers.
Its powerful, 5.3L V8 engine contributes to its powerful towing capabilities, including 355hp horsepower and 383-lb-ft of torque. All of this making it capable of class-leading 11,500 pounds of max trailering. In addition, the interior workings of the truck reveal three hard-core engines, engineered to provide seamless operation. On the other hand, the addition of new silencing features like the shear body mounts makes the truck run quieter and more smoothly than ever. The newest version of the popular truck a CornerStep rear bumper that make it easy to access the box even if you have the tailgate down.
Even with its V8 engines, the new Sierra has been touted the best in its class for fuel efficiency. Experts expect the newest model to earn at least 16 mpg for city driving and 23mpg highway. When you add in features like the Rear Vision Camera, 8” color touch radio and smartphone integration, the 2014 GMC Sierra has plenty of features to make this an enjoyable ride.
The 2014 GMC Sierra is worthy of the praise that it has received and will continue to receive as a functional, yet stylish option for those requiring a vehicle with “working” capabilities and the best fuel efficiency in its class. However, we especially find it admirable based upon its outstanding safety features and scoring by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and look forward to experiencing the cool new tech employed by GMC firsthand.
