Discover The 5 Easy Steps In Automobile Battery Routine Maintenance

By Blake Jacobs

Obviously, without its batteries your vehicle will not be able to take you anywhere. It is highly recommended for every motorist to check if the auto batteries are in good condition before she moves anywhere. But because the batteries are known more for its effects other than its existence, most motorists are not fully informed how to do its maintenance.

On the average, your vehicle’s battery life lasts around three to four years. To maximize its usage, just remember the following tips.

If you could not recall when you last ordered your battery, take the time to find out. Batteries come with labels that would reveal its age. Checking it can be a little confusing for the novice as it is basically a 2 alphanumeric combo where by the letter assumes a certain month and the number takes on the year. Letter “A” stands for January and so on. Just be aware that instead of letter “L” for December it is represented by “M.” The numbers are pretty easy as it simply means the year. Zero means year 2000 and 10 means twenty-oh-ten. For example, seeing A09 will indicate January 2009. As for the particular lifespan of your batteries, the most certain way to do this is asking the battery dealer.

Your battery packs should not have any deterioration in the terminals, battery top or cables. When you notice any, you must purchase a new battery. So prior to when this comes about, have a mechanic from any of the San Francisco Auto Repair shops clean your battery terminals-this will protect against corrosion from taking place. Make a note of any unfastened cables, alternator belt and battery brackets while checking out your batteries. For broken alternator belts, a replacement is important mainly because the batteries have to power up your car’s electrical system in full while it is in jeopardy. If the battery brackets of your car are not fully modulated, it will bring about a lot of shaking and movement on the battery and its parts triggering it to cease working easily. The drive belts have to be in good condition; if not, it could hamper your batteries from charging efficiently.

One more trick is to ensure you have switched off all electronic devices like the parking lights, headlights, interior lights, stereo and air conditioning/heater before you turn off your car’s engine. Forgetting to flip these devices off before you turn off your engine will make you prone to forgetting to turn it off by any means. This is one simple way to deplete your auto’s battery and may trigger electrical system damage when you turn on your auto’s engine the next time.

If you are not driving your automobile for a period of about seven days, make sure to start the engine for a couple of minutes every morning. This trick will prevent your batteries from going dead. Not activating your auto’s engine for prolonged periods of time may lead it not to start up when you would like to use it as a result of dead batteries.

The last guideline is to always park your car within the garage or any covered area. Any time the temperature is freezing; do not leave your auto out in the open. Also continue to keep a jump cable handy in the trunk of your auto in case you need to quick start your batteries.

Find the best maintenance mechanic for all your auto maintenance need in San Francisco Area.
