Dodge among 50 Most Innovative Companies

By Kathleen Murphy

In the March 2014 issue of Fast Company, Dodge has been recognized among the “World’s 50 Most Innovative Companies. Fast Company is known as a leading business media brand around the world. It focuses on ethical economics, innovative technology, design and leadership. The company is located in New York City and inspires readers to think outside traditional business boundaries while developing the future of business. In addition, to Dodge this impressive list includes companies like Apple, Amazon, Nike, Google, and Netflix.

Dodge innovation was chosen because it has managed to always be part of the conversation. This has been made possible by brand initiatives such as exciting advertisement campaigns, various product placements and innovative technology in their vehicles. The Dodge Durango campaigns that featured Will Farrell as Ron Burgundy were incredibly successful. Ron Burgundy is a character from the movie Anchorman, and the ads helped increase the sale of the Dodge Durango in October 2013 by 59 percent. Other successful initiatives were product placements in the movie Fast & Furious 6, and television’s Defiance.

The Chief Marketing Officer of the Chrysler Group LLC, Olivier Francois appreciates the honor by saying “How exciting to be recognized by Fast Company, an innovator and leader in its own right, and to be among such a prestigious group of world-renown companies.” Tim Kuniskis, the CEO and President of Dodge adds that “In an industry that is getting more and more commoditized, we capture this brand attitude and swagger in our marketing recipe to spark conversation and consideration.” The magazine applauded Dodge for partnerships and product placements that speak to almost every single driver type making people notice the brand. In 2013, Dodge sales had increased by 14 percent.

The Dodge brand has a 100 year history and continually builds upon the models and technology of past models. The Dodge Durango became a big deal for 2014 offering drivers an infotainment center called Uconnect, eight-speed transmission with 25 miles per gallon, best in-class power, class-exclusive technology, towing and more. Among the 2014 lineup for Dodger are the Journey, Charger, Challenger, Dodge Dart, 30th Anniversary Grand Caravan and the Dodge Avenger. Five of the vehicles have made the best-in-class power category. There are seven vehicles that offer consumers 25 miles per gallon or more. And, there are three vehicles that give drivers seating for seven and offer 31 miles per gallon and higher. Dodge keeps its focus on the passion to create models that customers are proud to own and eager to drive and future innovation.
