Making Life More Simple And Getting Where You Have To Be With Map Quest

By Leroy Tobin

Since 2000 Map Quest has been telling us where to go. The company is a division of the AOL Company and has been owned by them since its purchase in 2000. It began development in the 1960′s to maximize its programming potential. Over thirty years later it is a world wide known company used by millions of people.

MapQuest is a visual mapping program that gives you directions to where you need to go. You can access the program from anywhere using a computer. You start by giving your original destination and add a second destination. The program will now give you directions to the second location. You can add a third destination if you choose.

If you want to make sure you avoid any major construction area you can use the feature on the program as well as avoiding certain roads or highways. The options are vast with this program and get you where you need to go with ease. Even internationally you can use MapQuest quite easily from your laptop no matter what country you are in.

MapQuest also has satellite views available with the program. You can type in your address and see your house from space. So you not only have the option of seeing a map view of any location you are going to but also the physical picture for a very good visual aid to find where you are going.

In 2004 the company joined with Nextel to start the mobile buddy system that now allows you to use the program on your cellular phone as a GPS system. It then began merging with OnStar in 2007 to have service with General Motors cars for a personal navigation system in your car while you are driving. Many models now have voice activated mapping for ease of use while you are driving.

Not only can you get directions you can also have many other features using the program. It has the option of searching the Yellow Pages from the program and when you find the business you are looking for it will give you directions to the business easily. The program will also tell you where there is road construction that is actively going on.

A new feature as well is the gas price feature. No more driving by each gas station hoping you get the best price. The program will look at the gas prices in the location you are or where you are going to be and then it will tell you what the prices are the best or what stations are available in the area if you want a specific company.

Having a lot of options is great when you have a busy life and you need to find where you are going. Having the ease of using your phone and car GPS is a great tool for a busy lifestyle. You will be able to get where you need to go with a program that will work for you.

Map Quest has been changing the way we get directions since the new millenium. They are a well evolved company headquartered in Lancaster and Denver that has been around for over thirty years and just gets better. More info on http://www.funandsafedriving.com/mapquest-2.html
