MotorWeek’s Drivers’ Choice Award given to 2014 Jeep Cherokee

By Linda Bryant

The extremely popular MotorWeek television series, which is a weekly program highlighting the very best vehicles on the road, in development and potentially in production, releases an annual list of the vehicles it believes are the very best of the year. In the 2014 edition, Chrysler and its brands of Jeep, Dodge and Ram all performed extremely well and ultimately took home top honors. In fact the 2014 Jeep Cherokee received the award for Best Small Utility. The complete redesign and heightened features of the new 2014 Jeep Cherokee have made it an industry best, so for anyone looking for a brand new, small sized SUV, it is important to check out the 2014 Jeep Cherokee and see exactly what the vehicle is able to offer.

The MotorWeek automotive show and magazine has reviewed vehicles for over 30 years now and has been giving recognition to vehicles every year since 1983. MotorWeek looks at vehicles a bit differently than other judging institutions. Some go by simply performance of the vehicle, without necessarily taking into consideration the desires of the consumer. Others simply go by safety features and completely look past performance and how the vehicle handles or the other tech specs found in the vehicle. However, MotorWeek looks at vehicles from the consumers’ point of view, which is extremely important. When vehicles are recognized by MotorWeek it signifies how useful and practical it is for the people actually buying the vehicle. These different points include overall value and the reliability of the vehicle, all while considering the latest trends in the automotive industry. Consumers want vehicles that are going to likely hold their value, perform well and require less maintenance in order run and function properly. All of this is going to make it that much more desirable for someone to look in and listen to the MotorWeek’s Driver’s Choice Award. No other review service takes all of the consumers’ points into consideration, so the MotorWeek awards truly stand out.

The 2014 Jeep Cherokee provides some rather impressive improvements over the previous releases of the model. First, it has a nine-speed automatic, which in itself makes it more fuel efficient than a manual vehicle. For the most part, manual vehicles have better gas mileage if an experienced driver knows what to downshift or shift up, so the vehicle doesn’t stay in a gear with extended RMPs for too long, which in turn burns more fuel. The nine-gear automatic makes the shifting points much more refined, which in turn allows the individual to enjoy improved performance and better gas mileage as well. In fact, the vehicle has a fuel economy improvement of more than 45 percent over the outgoing Liberty trim model. It also has better handling, a sleek, new design and over 70 different safety features, all of which are designed to protect both the driver and passengers, to make sure everyone is safe while inside of the vehicle. The 2014 Jeep Cherokee is a 4×4 vehicle, so it does perform well in most conditions, including snow and rain. On top of this, the entry level price point is significantly lower than most other vehicles in its class, with a starting MSRP of $22,995.

Jeep has drastically made some improvements to its vehicle lineup over the past several years. These unique model options allow drivers the ability to truly enjoy and get the most out of their vehicles. The 2014 Jeep Cherokee is just one of the latest in a long line of award winners and is a vehicle anyone looking for a small SUV should consider.
