Alberto Morillas introduced Acqua Di Gio for Women into the marketplace in1996. The nose who constructed this perfume for the popular designer house was Giorgio Armani.

Perfumes and Colognes reflect the intensity of aromatic compounds in a mix of ethanol and water. The most common intensities used by perfumers are parfum, eau de parfum, eau de toilette, eau de cologne. Parfum has between 15% to 25% of aromatic compounds; eau de parfum has between 10% and 20%; eau de toilette has between 4% to 15%; and eau de cologne has between 2% and 5%. Acqua Di Gio Women has the eau de toilette intensity, hence has between 4% and 15% of aromatic compounds.

In 1983, Michael Edwards created a system for classifying perfumes called the Fragrance Wheel. According to this classification system, there are fourteen different Families. Acqua Di Gio Perfume is part of the Floral Family. Dominant notes of Freshly Cut Flowers are characteristic of perfumes classified as Floral Family.

The Floral Family is further subdivided into four separate categories. These categories are Fresh, Crisp, Classical, and Rich. These categories are all distinctly Floral, however the fragrance notes get richer and deeper as you go from Fresh to Crisp to Classical to Rich. Acqua Di Gio Perfume belongs to the Fresh subdivision.

The life of every fragrance progresses through three stages. They are referred to as Top Notes, Middle Notes, and Base Notes. These stages are a result of the varying levels of volatility of the Fragrance Notes that make up a fragrance. In other words, some fragrance ingredients in Acqua Di Gio for Women will evaporate faster than others, therefore producing different impressions at certain stages of its life on the skin.

The Top Notes for Acqua Di Gio Women consists of Lemon, Musk Vodka, Banana Leaf, Pineapple, Peach, Violet, and Peony. These fragrance notes evaporate quickly, only lasting up to 20 minutes.

Middle Notes emerge when the Top Notes dissipate. Middle Notes are known for being the key scent for a perfume. Lily of the Valley, Freesia, Ylang-Ylang, Jasmine, Hiacynth, and Freesia are the Middle Notes for the perfume Acqua Di Gio Perfume.

The scent that emerges once the Middle Notes start to fade is called Base Notes. They give the fragrance it’s holding power by helping to slow down the stages of evaporation of the lighter notes. The Base Notes for Acqua Di Gio Perfume include Musk, Amber, Cedar, Styrax, and Sandalwood.

What makes the Michael Edwards Fragrance Wheel so great is that it can help you find fragrances that you would like but never even knew existed. These fragrances Heiress for Women, Bright Crystal for Women, LizSport (Liz Sport) for Women, Live Jennifer Lopez for Women, and Chic for Women are also in the Floral Family. Chances are that you will like them.
