Frizzy hair can be such a pain when all you want to do is have sleek bouncy hair that shines. I know the feeling well because I have really long, fine curly hair. Not just the kind that curls slightly, but those springy, coiled curls.
For the longest time, it seemed like no matter how much conditioner I used, the minute I would walk outside into the summertime heat and humidity, my hair would turn into a huge afro puff with no sheen or shine. Even when it rained, I got the same results, dry and dry frizzy hair. Not fun at all.
Finally, a good friend from Venezuela with beautiful curly hair told me about Infusium. Her hair was thick, curly, and flowed down her back. It was a gorgeous look on her, and her hair never was dry or under conditioned. Every few days, she would comb the conditioner through her hair and leave it in to dry naturally. I bought my first bottle within a week of talking to my friend, and I keep it on hand no matter what my finances look like. My hair shines with the natural curls that I was born with and it also seems to strengthen the texture of my hair. This is a real bonus for us girls with fine hair, because it diminishes breakage.
Over the years, I have tried many different hair products, and there are a lot of good deep conditioners and styling gels on the market that combat frizz. Here are a few of my favorites that I keep in my frizz fighting arsenal:
Infusium 23 – Step 3 Leave In Treatment
Infusium 23 is easy to use. I generally will wash and condition my hair first, and then while it is wet, I comb this solution through my hair. I don’t usually blow dry my hair, as I really do not like too apply to much heat. Every few minutes, I run my fingers through the strands so that the natural curls will separate and my hair dries faster. This conditioner works instantly, and it generally ranges anywhere from $4 to $6 in stores.
Keratin Complex Smoothing Treatment
This smoothing treatment has keratin in it which smooths and repairs hair. It’s a very effective product for getting rid of frizz, and is good for straightening your curls. The product is high end and is very pricey, it retails from $158 to $338.
Carol’s Daughter Hair Milk
This deep conditioner has all natural ingredients, and it leaves my hair experience soft and frizz free. I like that it is not heavy on my hair, and it leaves it shiny and healthy looking. It generally ranges from $9 to $20.
When I was a kid, and even now too I braid my hair to keep it from getting tangled and matted. When I am running low on a deep conditioner, it’s a simple trick that I use to keep my hair manageable. With the right deep conditioners, and a little know how, you too can keep frizz at bay.
