Essential Oils Work Great In First Aid Kits

By Ace Winget

You never know when a first aid kit will be needed. Essential oils can be great for emergencies. Keeping oils in your first aid kit can be a really good idea.

Oils are good because of their usefulness. When used the right way, they can work as well, if not better, than traditional medicine. They have wonderful healing properties and are great for first aid kits.

When putting together your first aid kit decide what types of essential oils you think should be put in there. There are a lot of oils out there, with a lot of great remedies, but try to limit the amount in your kit. A good maximum number to stick to is about seven or eight.

Essential oils need to be handled with care. Be sure to store them where they won’t be affected by heat or light. Oils can be volatile, so it is important to find a good storage place.

When you choose the oils you want to use, be sure to know how they are used. Do some research ahead of time. Some oils need to be mixed before they are applied, so find a good carrier oil, like sweet almond oil, to go along with it in the first aid kit.

First aid kits need to include other emergency items. Don’t forget to include the normal things. Include things such as gauze, scissors, tweezers, band-aids, etc.

Place a piece of paper in the kit with instructions on how to use the essential oils. When an emergency happens you need to have clear instructions so you don’t forget how they are used. It is always good to have instructions available for people who aren’t familiar with the oils as well.

Be sure to never leave the essential oils where children can reach it. They are never meant to be swallowed. Be sure to have child-proof caps on all medicines in the first aid kit to prevent overdoses or poisoning.
