Eyelid Surgery Review
Our eyes are an appealing aspect of the face and many people enjoy looking into the eyes of the one they love. Many cosmetic procedures are now carried out on the eyes and eyelids especially amongst older people as the eyes continue to be an attractive part of a persons face. No one doubts that bags under the eyes, droopy eyelids and laughter lines are not attractive but they can be treated with cosmetic eye procedures and make a person much more attractive.
Most people would, if given the opportunity have corrective treatment on their eyelids to make them look more attractive. Individuals who look to having cosmetic eyelid treatment want to make themselves appear younger and more vibrant.
Blepharoplasty, the correct term for eyelid surgery, is a cosmetic surgery that reshapes the eyelids. Droopy eyelids and bags under the eyes can make you look tired, even when you are not and this is another area that cosmetic eye and eyelid surgery corrects.
The muscle supporting the droopy eyelid (called Ptosis) needs to be tightened in a surgical procedure so it is elevated and secured. Where the eyebrow needs attention, a brow lift pulls on the loose shin and helps to remove the bags and wrinkles found below the eye making the patient look younger and healthier.
As a significant aid to vision, eyelid surgery is a benefit and the top consideration of adults aged 51 to 64. A slack upper eyelid is the normal reason for a droopy eyelid. A surgical procedure carried out on the eyelid doesn’t usually carry a scar because the skin is so thin. Upper eyelid surgery does have one downside though and that is the bruising and swelling that normally starts showing very soon after the procedure. Patients that have heavy and swollen eyelids normally have the excess fat and muscle layers removed at the same time.
Collagen or another of its derivatives are fast becoming serious considerations in replacing eye and eyelid surgery. Sometimes where a facelift or eyelid surgery has not had the desired effect, Micro pigmentation is helping to correct the effect of drooping eyelids by increasing the definition around the eyes with permanent makeup. Micro pigmentation can also be used to help correct the visual shape of the eye thereby avoiding the more expensive surgical option.
Before any surgery takes place however, there are important factors to consider; for instance how quickly does the patient heal, do they bruise easily and how well the eyelids will be looked after during the postoperative time.
