One might wish on how to make the best out of wearing heels. The answer to that is a simple DIY foot care. One doesn’t have to go to a salon for a pedicure because it can easily be done at home without the big expenses and wasted time. A wonderful piece of high-heeled shoes should be worn with a set of pretty feet with dazzling manicure and seemingly perfect skin. This will boost the confidence of the wearer and will enhance the look of the shoes.
The things that are needed to conduct home pedicures are the following: nail varnish remover, cotton wool, bowl of warm water, rough sponge, foot file, nail file, nail buffer, nail coat base, nail coat varnish. The first five items are needed for the first part of the pedicure and the remaining for nail care.
When these are present at home, then a full-blown pedicure can be done. First, the old nail varnish should be removed from the nail. This can be done by using the nail varnish remover with the cotton wool. Take note that the cuticle areas and the edges should be cleaned meticulously. When one is satisfied and the previous nail varnish coating is removed, the feet should be soaked in warm water. This is the relaxing step in a pedicure; it softens the skin on the foot. Five to ten minutes is enough but for further enjoyment, another five minutes can be added.
The foot file should be used for clearing the skin from dead skin cells. There are two sides of a foot file, the smooth and the rough. The rough side should be used first followed by the smooth side. Special attention should be given to the heel, balls of the feet and the toe areas since these possess a lot of unwanted skin. After this, moisturizer should be applied thoroughly. It would be best to let the moisturizer to seep through the skin as deep as possible.
Now, the nails should be the focus of the pedicure. Items such as nail file, nail buffer, nail coat base and nail varnish are needed to complete this stage. The first step is to use the cuticle stick to push the cuticles up the base to get a smooth line around the nail; this will elongate the length of the nails. Afterwards, the nails should be trimmed. Cutting the sides is not advisable since it will be the cause of ingrown nails. When the trimming is done, the nail file should be used to smooth the edges.
The first application of nail varnish is crucial since it is the prime coat. It will help in making the succeeding coats perfect and without ripples. Considering the drying time per application, it takes around twenty to thirty minutes to dry up. The color that will be chosen should complement the heels to be worn in order to achieve a coherent effect.
