Why Are Good Sunglasses So Expensive?
By Ruby Shaw | September 7, 2009
Ordinary people are willing to spend up to 300 on a pair of designer sunglasses; it is the most sort after designer product that is within affordability of the average person. It is also the most misplaced expensive possession next to the mobile phone
Why do we spend so much on such a fashion item? Are designer sunglasses better than any 10 pair you can buy from a service station?
Everybody at some stage in their life has owned a designer pair of sunglasses. If you think back to the days when you had a pair and the way they made you feel when you put them on then I am sure you can understand why we pay that little bit extra for sunglasses. It is a great feeling when you are wearing such an item of class, like you are transformed when you put them on into a person of stardom or influence. Most of us are happy to purchase high street labels for normal clothes1 but when it comes to sunglasses and handbags for that matter we will only settle for the best.
Is it because sunglasses are one of the most noticeable fashion accessories that we are prepared to pay that bit extra to be looked upon with somebody with class and a bit of cash to spend on fashion items.
The fact is sunglasses are meant to do one job and that is to keep out ultra violet light and to protect our eyes from the damaging sun. So in fact any pair of sunglasses that have approval of doing such a task should be as good as the next pair after all designer glasses are not made out of some kind of super plastic or metal and do just the same job. Designer sunglasses break just as easily as your 10 pair and they get lost and scratched just as easily.
In truth the only thing you are paying for with a pair of designer sunglasses is the brand and nothing more but we still buy them and will continue to buy them for years to come as long as they make us feel good about ourselves when we put them on.
