Herbal Skin Care: What Are Their Benefits?
By Betty Sanso
Skin care is not a topic of recent times; it's been in practice since ancient times, when herbal skin care was likely the only real way to look after skin. Nevertheless skin care has transformed in a big way. Herbal skin care routines have been substituted by manmade/chemical-based skin care routines. The herbal skin care recipes which once used to be common-place aren't so popular today (and even unknown to a giant population). This transformation from herbal skin care to synthetic, can doubtless be assigned to 2 things our laziness (or merely the good speed of lives) and the commercialization of skin care. Even herbal skin care products have been commercialised. These commercial herbal skin care products need to be combined with additives in order to increase their active life, hence making them less efficient than the fresh ones made at home. But it appears that things are changing fast and more people are now choosing natural and herbal skin care routines. But still, none wish to make them at home and therefore the commercial market of herbal skin care products is rising.
So what are these herbs or herbal skin care mechanisms?
Aloe vera, which is a product of Aloe plant, is one of the finest examples of herbal skin care product. Freshly processed aloe vera is a natural hydrant that assists in relaxing skin. It can also help in healing cuts and treating sun burns. (read more)
A number of herbs are known to possess cleansing properties. Dandelion, chamomile, lime flowers and rosemary herbs, are a few examples of such cleansers. Their herbal skin care properties get imprecated when they're mixed with other herbs like tea.
Antiseptics are another significant part of Herbal skin care. Lavender, marigold, thyme and fennel are great examples of herbs that are known to own antiseptic properties. Lavender water and rose water also form good toners.
Tea plays an important part in herbal skin care. Tea extracts are utilised for treatment of skin that has sustained damage by UV radiation.
Oils prepared from herb extracts present a different method of herbal skin care. Tea tree oil, Lavender oil, borage oil and primrose oil are some popular oils employed in herbal skin care. Some fruit oils (e.g. Extracts from fruits like banana, apple and melon) find use in shower gels (as a hydrating mix)
Homeopathic treatments and aromatherapies also come under the umbrella of herbal skin care cures.
Herbal skin care is good not only for the routine nourishing of skin but also for treatment of skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis. Most herbal skin care products do not have any side-effects (the most significant reason for preferring them over synthetic products) Furthermore, herbal skin care products can be easily made at home, thus making them much more tasty. Hence herbal skin care is the way to go. Nonetheless this does not necessarily imply that you absolutely drop the manmade products. Some people go to the extent of discussing with their dermatologist, if he/she suggests a synthetic product. You must accept the incontrovertible fact that some skin orders might need usage of medically proven non-herbal skin care products.
Many natural skin care products are use to get rid of acne and is the recommend method being that it’s natural. Read more on natural beauty tips at AskBeautyBetty.com, you will find it worth your time!
