History Of Hair Removal

By Shaune Alcent

Ever since we can remember, women in our family always had their eyebrows trimmed and their underarms freed from hair. The men, on the other hand, always shaved their beards and sometimes even their heads. I assume this has something to do with our culture which examines body hair on girls as unfeminine. Today ladies and men still have their unwelcome facial and body hair removed either by themselves or with the aid of expert technicians at cosmetic treatment centres e. G the American Laser Center.

I was curious as to when the practice of shaving and hair removing started so I turned to the most reliable and beneficial friend of all, So it is here that I learned that it started as far back as 30,000 BC. Imagine folks were already vain back then, using flints to trim their hair.

It was also in this time that ladies started using creams with the goal of ridding themselves of unwished-for hair on their bodies. The gizmos and methods developed through the centuries, gradually getting more refined as women and men became more informed and started fiddling with the materials available to them.

Everywhere around the planet, folk of different cultures show their likenesses in removing unwished-for body hair but they often differ on the strategies thus each culture has in a lot of ways contributed in the development of hair removing. Alexander the Great’s obsession with shaving led to the creation of the first hairdresser shop in Europe. Traditional Egyptian girls, on the other hand, following Cleopatra’s lead, utilised the sugaring hair removing method.

Threading also came from the Middle East and parts of Pacific Rim. In the Americas, the Aztecs were also using razors made of volcanic glass. These techniques appear extraordinarily backward compared to the modern technology used at the American Laser Center and other spas and treatment centres.

In 1995, the FDA approved the first laser treatment to be used in hair removing. Today, it is employed generally and the American Laser Center and numerous other beauty clinics are supplying it to clients who want to permanently have body hair removed.
