Health is the source of happiness in our life. It is a level of functioning of human body and spirit. The definition of health is “The state of the organism when it functions optimally without evidence of disease or abnormality”. This state is characterized by anatomical and psychological integrity, the ability to deal with stress and a feeling of general well being.

Staying healthy means balancing the body and spirit. Learning how to keep your body’s optimal balance requires a lifelong commitment. Human body has its own self healing mechanism which can be maintain by using natural methods, like herbal remedies, alternative medicine, changing nutritional habits, etc. Prevention is extremely important, as disease, generally speaking, is created by ourselves.

Lots of researches have been conducted to study the origins of diseases. Statistics show that majority of diseases are caused by humans themselves. This shows one more time that diseases should be prevented.

The most important prevention method is to stop polluting the environment. Pollution causes instability, disorder, harm and discomfort to all living organisms. American people are actually concerned about environmental pollution. We spend millions of dollars on emission control to keep from polluting our environment. We still need to do more for keeping the planet alive!

Stress is a major disease factor too. Stress and imbalance create not only a sick body, but also an unhealthy society. The environmental stress is a response to things around us that cause stress, such as noise, crowding, pressure from work or family, etc. We create stress by not getting enough rest, working too hard or too much, not knowing how to manage our time well, or how to take time out for rest or relaxation.

Blaming our health on the international health crisis is a big mistake. We just can’t do that. The only one to blame is each of us for not taking responsibility to live healthy.

Conclusion

Taking responsibility involves self awareness. Traditional medicine is becoming very expensive. The solutions to this problem is switching to alternative medicine, herbal remedies, healthy nutrition and exercise.
