Is Waxing or Shaving the Bikini Area Best
By Jason Bishop
Many women wish to have a clean, smooth bikini line and question what the best method for achieving a hair-free bikini area is. There are many different benefits for both shaving the bikini line and waxing the bikini line. Your choice is really up to the preferences that you have.
Shaving is the most common method for hair removal in the bikini area. Since many women are accustomed to shaving their legs, the act of shaving the bikini line is easy to learn. Shaving the bikini area is noninvasive; one does not have to have a stranger shave their private area. Shaving is also inexpensive. You may want to invest in some bikini area specific cream for post shaving to help reduce irritation and ingrown hairs. Otherwise, the only other cost for shaving is from purchasing razors and shaving cream. Shaving the bikini area is definitely less expensive than waxing.
The negatives for shaving the bikini area are found in its length of effectiveness. Shaving will only leave a hairless bikini line for a few days. Then, the method will need to be repeated. When shaving you also have the risk of getting cuts which may lead to infections in the sensitive bikini area.
Waxing the bikini line is a great option should you be good at managing pain. Waxing is certainly much more painful than shaving, but it also will last considerably longer. Bikini waxes last 3 to 5 weeks typically, which is considerably longer compared to the few days that shaving provides results. Waxing is known to result in much less discomfort than shaving. Waxing is particularly an excellent option if you are going on vacation and realize you’ll want a hair-free bikini line for an period of time without the need of going through the hassle of shaving on a regular basis.
There are a couple of major negatives associated with bikini waxes. The first is its pain. Bikini waxes can be painful, but there are some things you can do to help reduce your pain. Make sure you take a pain killer before getting your wax, and be sure that the wax strips are removed quickly. Bikini waxes can also be expensive if you get them done professionally. You can minimize the costs by giving yourself a bikini wax at home. It is easier and cheaper than you may think.
As you can see, there are several pros and cons to both shaving and waxing the bikini area. If you need something cheap and fast, shaving is most likely the best for you. But if you would like some thing long-lasting, you should probably choose waxing. The choice, though, is in the end up to you.
