Over a person’s lifetime, he or she would walk over 10,000 miles – now that’s a lot of distance to travel by any measure. The figure may sound stroppy, but that IS the stress the human foot undergoes from cradle to grave. Because cracked heels result from years of wear and tear, you should not expect immediate results for any cure thereof for this condition.

Common Reasons for Cracked Heels

Standing up for a protracted length of time Being overweight Open backed shoes Dry skin caused by a certain skin disease most common with diabetics Other skin diseases, including but not limited to eczema and psoriasis

A Quick Look at Different Treatments for Cracked Heels

A simple cleaning and moisturizing regimen. Before going to bed, soak your feet in warm, soapy water for 15 minutes, wash and dab it dry. Create a mixture of one teaspoon Vaseline and lemon juice from one lemon. Rub this mixture on your feet mainly the cracked areas. Let the skin absorb this mixture. For best results, it is advised to do this every day.

Cracked feet can be healed effectively by applying a daily solution of glycerine and rosewater on the affected areas.

It is essential that you must exfoliate your feet through scrubbing. The accumulation of dead skin can worsen the problem. Scrubbing can be done either with pumice stone or loofah – just make sure you remove all of the dead skin.

Apply a moisturiser with an oil base on your feet once or twice a day, better if twice.

A pedicure done at home or in a beauty salon would allow you to show your feet that you care. Use sea salt (we have to be specific here) and water to wash your feet and scrub them if you cannot be dragged to the local beauty salon. Afterwards, caress your feet with hand and body lotion.

In 100 gms of coconut oil add 3 teaspoon camphor and 3 tablespoon paraffin wax melted. Try this for at least a fortnight for best results, applying the mixture before going to bed. After washing it in the morning apply hand and body cream.

Exfoliation with the help of strawberry. Crush 6-8 strawberries; mix two tablespoons of olive or almond oil and one teaspoon of sea salt. Create a paste from said ingredients and liberally apply on your feet with rhythmic movements – this keeps the blood circulating. Allow ten to fifteen minutes to set, then rinse with warm water first followed by cold water. You could do the same thing using almonds instead of strawberries. Especially hardened heels and tough skin can benefit from another alternative, which would be ground corn cobs and walnut sheet. The fruit and nut compound created would help invigorate your feet through their nourishing oils and juices.
