Plastic surgery costs comprise of many charges which are priced based on many factors. The main determinants to the cost is the part of the body to be treated, the type of procedure, the technique used and the geographical location of the clinic. Typically, large parts of the body will cost more to treat than smaller parts. What procedure is being performed and how it will be done can influence the tools used which could increase or decrease the overall cost. The rates for each itemized charge are relative to the cosmetic surgery market of that geographical region.

Body parts that are bigger will generally cost more than smaller parts. This is simply for the fact that small areas are quicker and require less work.

The cost will also be influenced by the number of areas in one session. It will cost less per area if multiple treatments can be done in one session. So anyone who is might want plastic surgery in more than one place should consider planning for multiple treatments.

The type of procedure will also play a major role since some procedures are harder or easier to perform than others. Minimally invasive procedures such non-surgical alternatives, injectables, and skin treatments will usually cost less since they tend to be smaller and less risky.

Some major surgeries will require general anesthesia which is to sedate the patient while others only require local anesthesia. The anesthesia fee makes up a big part of the final bill and patients are charged for the amount of the solution used during the plastic surgery procedure. Sometimes the dosage is small enough that it can be safely administered by someone other than a certified anesthesiologist. Otherwise there will be an additional charge for the anesthesiologist’s time and presence.

Every type of plastic surgery treatment will contain a surgeon fee which is what the surgeon charges for their time and effort. There are many charges that the clinic will pass onto the patient in the form of various fees. The use of the facilities is sometimes called a hospital fee or facility fee which can cost between $500 and $2000. The cost of administering the numbing solution averages about $1000. Different types of tools and equipment required will be included in the facility fee as well.

There is more to the cost of plastic surgery than financial prices. The side effects of plastic surgery are things to consider carefully when shopping for a good deal.
