The weather during the wintertime can be devastating for your skin. The air is drier and colder, and that means that your skin is going to have different needs during the winter months than it does during the summer months. Nevertheless, you won’t have to stay locked away indoors until spring in order to avoid the damaging winter weather. The cold weather may take its toll on your skin, but you can do a lot to protect it and even improve the quality of your skin. We’re going to give you some simple skin care tips so you can learn the best ways of taking care of your skin during the cold months.

A reliable, high-quality humidifier is a good first step to protecting your skin. The cold winter months are naturally drier than the humid summer months. Shed those wet clothes as soon as you can! Wet clothing, particularly gloves and socks, can really irritate your skin. It can cause itching, cracking, sores or even an eczema outbreak. Unfortunately, when the weather is wet and inclement, wet clothing is an issue that presents itself frequently. Get out of the wet clothing as quickly as possible. Those of you who work may wisely decide to have a change of clothing – or at least dry socks – tucked away somewhere at your work place, or even in a duffle bag in your car. Remember, the goal is to stay warm and dry.

Moisturizers are all similar, but with distinctive qualities. The basic ingredient in one may be that of water and oil in a different one. The type of moisturizer you need is dependent upon what kind of skin you have. For instance, if your skin is oily already; you certainly would not use an oil based moisturizer. If your skin is just dry, the oil based moisturizers might be more your style. During the different seasons, your skin will have requirements that vary. What you need to keep your skin healthy during the summer is different than what you need to keep your skin healthy during the winter. The reason is that in the colder months, the impact on our skin is a lot different than it is during the more temperate months. It is imperative to also keep in mind that you shouldn’t just concentrate on your hands and face during the winter months, but concentrate on keeping your whole body protected and hydrated – inside and out. You will easily adapt to these kinds of seasonal routines, so don’t let it get you down. You will love your healthy and moist wintertime complexion.
