The cologne Versace Man was developed in 2003 by the perfumer Domitille Michalon. She composed this cologne for the company Versace.

Perfumes and Colognes reflect the intensity of aromatic compounds in typically a mix of ethanol and water. The most common intensities used by perfumers are parfum, eau de parfum, eau de toilette, eau de cologne. Parfum contains between 15% to 25% of aromatic compounds; eau de parfum, between 10% and 20%; eau de toilette, between 4% to 15%; and eau de cologne, between 2% and 5%. Versace Cologne has the eau de toilette intensity, hence contains between 4% to 15% of aromatic compounds.

According to the Michael Edwards Fragrance Wheel classification system, all perfumes fall into one of fourteen Families. The Woody Oriental family encompasses the fragrance Versace Man Cologne. The dominant use of sandalwood and patchouli makes this family distinct when compared to the other fourteen families.

Woody Oriental Family is further subdivided into four separate categories. These categories are called Fresh, Crisp, Classical, and Rich. These subcategories are all distinctly Woody Oriental, even though the fragrance notes get richer and deeper as you go from Fresh to Crisp to Classical to Rich. Versace Man Fragrance belongs to the Fresh interpretation of the Woody Oriental Family.

There are three stages that make up Versace Man’s life, which are characterized as Top Notes, Middle Notes, and Base Notes. These stages occur because each of the Fragrance Notes composed in a fragrance has differing rates of evaporation.

Top Notes are light, volatile, and evaporate rapidly. They are a perfume’s initial impression and last about 10 to 20 minutes. Top Notes for Versace Cologne consists of Pepper, Angelica, Bergamot, and Neroli.

Middle Notes emerge when the Top Notes disperse. Middle Notes are the main fragrance notes in a perfume. Cardamom and Saffron are the Middle Notes ingredients for the perfume Versace Man Cologne.

The Base Notes for Versace Man by Versace are Tobacco, Cashmir Wood, Amber and Labdanum. They consist of the longest lasting qualities of a perfume and help to slow down the evaporation of the lighter notes.

If you like the smell of Versace Man, you would possibly like other fragrances that belong to the Woody Oriental Family. A few suggestions are Ferrari Red for Men, Original 1910 by Everlast, Cuba Gold by Fragluxe, Dunhill Pursuit by Dunhill, and Cerruti 1881 Black by Cerruti.
