In 2008, the fragrance Versace Pour Homme was launched by the designer house of Versace. The perfumer in charge of this creation was Alberto Morillas.

Versace Cologne is available in the eau de toilette concentration. Fragrances generally come in one of four types of concentrations: eau de cologne, eau de toilette, eau de parfum, and parfum (or perfume). Eau de cologne is made up of about 2% to 5% perfume oil; eau de toilette, 4% to 15% perfume oil; eau de parfum, 10% to 20% perfume oil; and parfum, 15% to 25% perfume oil. Therefore, the percentage of perfume oil in Versace Fragrance is 4% to 15%.

All fragrances can be classified into one of fourteen different Families according to the Fragrance Wheel. The Fragrance Wheel is a classification system produced by Michael Edwards in 1983. Versace Men is a member of the Woody Oriental Family. What separates this Family from the others is its more dominant use of sandalwood and patchouli.

There are four more subdivisions within each Fragrance Family. These subdivisions are known as Fresh, Crisp, Classical, and Rich. Fresh is the brightest and highest interpretation of the Family where as Rich is the deepest and richest interpretation. Versace for Men is a member of the Classical interpretation of the Woody Oriental Family.

The life of Versace Pour Homme, just like that of every fragrance, evolves through three stages. These stages are referred to as Top Notes, Middle Notes, and Base Notes. This a result of the varying levels of volatility of the Fragrance Notes that make up a fragrance. Another way of looking at it is that some fragrance components fade faster than others, therefore creating different impressions at certain stages of a scent’s life on the skin.

Top Notes are light, volatile, and evaporate rapidly. They are a perfume’s initial impression and last about 10 to 20 minutes. Top Notes for Versace Cologne consists of Rose de Mai, Bergamot, Neroli, and Citruses.

Middle Notes are the most prevalent, and last for almost the entirety of the fragrance’s life. The Middle Notes for Versace Men consist of Hyacinth, Clary Sage, Cedar and Geranium.

The smell that arises once the Middle Notes start to evaporate is called Base Notes. They give the perfume its holding power by helping to slow down the stages of evaporation of the lighter notes. The Base Notes for Versace for Men are Musk, Amber, and Tonka Bean.

If you like the smell of Versace Pour Homme, you would possibly like other fragrances that belong to the Woody Oriental Family. A few suggestions are Spark for Men by Liz Claiborne, Ambre Baldessarini for Men, Bijan Nude for Men, Bois Du Portugal by Creed, and Boss Soul by Hugo Boss.
