What You Should Look For In An Offset Printer

By Gary Carter | November 4, 2009

Offset printing is an old printing technique and this type of printing services have been in application for over a couple of centuries now. This printing technique uses a two tier method, which involves getting the imprint on a rubber plate from a lithographic press and then on to the printing material by transferring it from the rubber plate.

Offset printing clearly provides superior quality than the conventional lithographic kind of printing. The availability of offset printers has become easy nowadays and any midsized printing company offers offset printing services.

That fact that offset printing involves a great deal of work to set up, makes the service pricier than digital printing for lesser volumes of work. But, offset printing is the way to go if big volumes are required as it proves to be pretty economical. The benefit of offset printing is the low running cost which more than balances for the higher set up costs incurred at the beginning. So, as far as bigger volumes of printing are in question, offset printing is the correct option.

When selecting an offset printing company there are some additional considerations to consider. By virtue of it being very different from the straightforward process of digital printing, all the choices in offset printing can be very hard to grasp for a non-expert. Technical support is a necessity to guide you with the technical aspects of offset printing. So the printing company that you decide to work with should be able to offer such support.

Other printing services such as extending design services for your print need, and providing you a sample print before large scale printing should also be sought from the chosen printing company. Lastly, the printing company should be willing to give you good rates for your print jobs, so that you can avail their printing services on an ongoing basis.
