Binding Documents Tips For Your Successful Business Presentation

By Brenda J. Roberts

When you need to keep a presentation, there are many things involved, and one of them is binding your handouts and presentation material the proper way. This ensures that your entire attire looks professional and up to par. There are several ways that you can use to bind your documents, and one of the most popular ones is using spiral coils. However what are the best tips that allow you to properly bind your documents and presentations without pages falling apart?

Make sure that you don’t use oversized covers with the binding machine as you might end up with a mess in the process. Try to use regular sized documents and covers instead to ensure good results.

Before actually binding the documents together, first make sure that everything is ready to be assembled the right way. For example print out all paper including any graphs, table of contents, front and back cover, etc. Assemble all these pages together for each pack that you’re going to punch and bind before attempting the task.

If you buy a coil binding machine with a full or partial set of disengageable dies, you can then easily bind together documents and presentations of different sizes and shapes. If you only have the regular type machine, you will only be able to bind together regular letter and half letter sized papers.

Use colorcoil to bind documents that are quite thin, such as small handouts during your presentation. If the entire set is more than 1 inch large, then you need the coiling machine for a smooth process.

Make sure that you have the binding machine properly set up. First grab a couple of scrap papers that you no longer need and put them through the puncher. Are the holes properly aligned? If not, adjust the edge guide so you end up with nicely aligned and centered holes. Avoid binding together sensitive materials before you make sure that the result is what you actually expect to have.
