The Lady Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest – Video Assessment
“The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest,” is the 3rd in a trilogy of movies based mostly on the 3 novels composed by Swedish novelist Steig Larsson the first two being “The Woman With the Dragon Tattoo” and “The Girl Who Played With Hearth.” All three novels, had been composed by Larsson ahead of being demonstrated to a publisher and have been introduced after his loss of life. As, of course, have been the several films.
Right off the bat, “The Woman Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest,” which was directed by Daniel Alfredson, is various from the first two movies, simply because in “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” the bisexual/hacker/punk-rock heroine (or anti-hero if you like) Lisbeth Salander (Noomi Repace) had a massive dragon tattoo on her back, and in “The Woman Who Performed With Fire,” Salander, does in truth, set her wicked father Alexander Zalachenko on fireplace, scaring him for existence. But in the “The Woman Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest,” there is no hornet’s nest, not did I listen to any reference to a hornet’s nest, or even a single hornet. I didn’t read the novels, so there may have been a reference made to a hornet’s nest there, which isn’t going to support, or make clear the explanation for the title of the film, other than that the producers need to have felt the need to be correct to the composed trilogy.
So significantly for the nitpicking about the title. The motion picture is even far more complicated.
“The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest” is by much the least interesting and least exciting of the 3 videos. In the very first two motion pictures, Lizbeth Salander is a piece-of-function, scheming, combating and often even torturing individuals. But in “The Woman Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest,” Salander spends the first 50 percent of the movie underneath arrest in a hospital bed, recovering from the accidents she received at the finish of “The Woman Who Played With Hearth,” caused by her father, who she finally managed to destroy, and her 50 % brother Ronald Niedermann, who seems to be like Ivan Drago from the “Rocky IV. The thread that stored the very first two movies flowing was the bond among Salander and journalist Mikael Blomkvist (Michael Nyqvist). Yet in “The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest,” the two will not even fulfill until the previous five minutes of the film.
The film will start with Salander in the hospital, recuperating from her wounds, even though a group of evil outdated adult males, led by a lying son-of-a-cockroach doctor, try out to have her possibly jailed for the murder of her father, or committed to a mental institution for the relaxation of her daily life. Whilst Salander wallows in mattress, Blomkvist and his sister (who is Salander’s attorney) attempt to determine out a way to help save Salander and put the cranky aged males out of company, whatever that business may be, simply because it undoubtedly isn’t really obvious in the movie. Then there is Salander’s demo, in which she goes from putting on drab hospital garb, to donning a strange punk/rock leather-based costume, with her hair piled up in the center of her head, looking like a female type of Edward Scissorhands on steroids.
The only pleasure in the entire video is when Salander catches up with her menacing 50 percent- brother Niedermann. Immediately after escaping his death clutches in a warehouse, Salander somehow manages to get a nail gun, from thin air no less, and from driving, nail Niedermann’s feet to the flooring. This scene, which is meant to be frightful, is truly humorous, because Niedermann has an affliction exactly where is his incapable of experiencing discomfort. So rather of screaming, writhing and trying anxiously to extricate his feet from the wood flooring, Niedermann seems to be mildly quizzical and drastically perplexed, as he shuffles his toes slowly, and not way too anxiously. Salander then telephones a biker gang, who have a rating to settle with Niedermann. They supposedly finish him off, which we will not truly see. That was very disappointing, because seeing Niedermann whacked would have additional some exhilaration and finality to a quite uninteresting movie.
I gave “The Lady With the Dragon Tattoo” 5 out of 5 stars. And I gave “The Woman Who Performed With Hearth” four out of 5 stars. The best I can do for “The Woman Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest” is a very weak 2 stars, and only because Noomi Repace is a riveting actress, who deserved a better screenplay than she was given in this completely disappointing video.
