How To Make Money With Articles – What You Must Do
Anyone working online should know how to make money with article marketing. It is one of the simplest and most effective of all internet marketing methods. The basic format is simple: write an article related to your niche, add a link to your site and submit to directories.
But there is one thing you must do before you start writing, and it is easily overlooked. If you do not take a few moments to consider how your article fits in to your overall marketing strategy, you could be wasting your time. And time is money in article marketing!
The first thing to consider is why you are writing your article – from two very different points of view. Firstly, what is the article’s main point for the reader? And secondly, how is it going to make you money?
Maybe from your point of view, your only reason for writing an article is to make money. But if you do not appear to have any motivation that helps or informs the reader, they will be turned right off. The benefit to the reader must be very clear, and your make-money motives should be well hidden.
So keep in mind that you are writing this article to inform or help the reader. That motivation should be clear throughout the article.
While you don’t want to give away the whole store, you should have something in mind before you start – a useful tip or caution related to your subject that will give real value to the reader. This should be something interesting enough to hook them in to reading the whole of your article, and clicking through to your website for more.
Keep in mind that there are some article writers submitting to directories who have no money-making motive at all. They simply want to put across their point of view. This applies particularly to people writing about subjects they strongly believe in, such as religion or politics. So imagine how you would write your article if you had nothing to sell. Then simply add a link to your site at the end.
Do not make the mistake of trying to put too much information into your article. Three points is plenty – and often, one is enough, if you develop it well. Over-stuffing your article with information confuses the reader. Instead, you should aim to leave them happy with the information that you gave, but wanting more.
Your money-making motivation for writing the article will usually take one of three forms: branding (getting your name known as an authority), lead generation (readers are directed to a squeeze page), or direct sales (readers are directed to a sales page). These can overlap but one of them will be primary.
So before submitting your article to directories, consider its purpose from both the reader’s point of view and from the marketing perspective. Will the reader get what he or she wanted, but still be left wanting more? And where are you sending them – would a squeeze page be more effective than a sales letter this time?

How To Make Money With Articles – What You Must Do
Anyone working online should know how to make money with article marketing. It is one of the simplest and most effective of all internet marketing methods. The basic format is simple: write an article related to your niche, add a link to your site and submit to directories.
But there is one thing you must do before you start writing, and it is easily overlooked. If you do not take a few moments to consider how your article fits in to your overall marketing strategy, you could be wasting your time. And time is money in article marketing!
First, you need to think about why you are writing the article. In fact, you should have two clear reasons why your article has come into existence. The first is the overt reason, the information that you are giving the reader. The second is your make-money motivation, which should not be too obvious.
Maybe from your point of view, your only reason for writing an article is to make money. But if you do not appear to have any motivation that helps or informs the reader, they will be turned right off. The benefit to the reader must be very clear, and your make-money motives should be well hidden.
So keep in mind that the main reason for writing an article is always to inform or assist the reader. Nobody should have to guess what they are being helped with – this should not be hidden at all!
If you are selling information, you probably don’t want to give away too much. But it’s easy to pick out one point, perhaps something that you didn’t cover in your ebook, or something that is quite well known. It needs to give real value to the reader, so it should be both interesting and helpful in solving their problem or whatever need or wish they have that led them to read your article.
Remember that there are people who write articles and run websites simply for the love of it, without making a cent from them. Those people usually have strong feelings about their subject, whether it be their religion, their pets, a food fad, or whatever. Imagine you were someone like that and you just wanted to tell the world about your subject. Then add your link at the end of the article.
However, do not try to stuff your article with all the information you can think of. This only confuses the reader. One point is enough if you can develop it well; three points is certainly all that you would need. Remember that the aim is to leave the reader wanting more.
At the same time, keep your own money-making reason for writing the article in the back of your mind. This is usually either branding (building trust in your name), sales (sending readers directly to a sales page) or lead generation (sending readers to a squeeze page where you can offer them more information). As a general rule, where your article is very closely related to the product you are selling, you can link straight to a sales page; less closely related, link to a squeeze page; and only broadly related, link to something like a blog that promotes you as an authority.
So before you go ahead and submit your article, take a moment to think about whether it serves its dual purpose in the best possible way. Does it give readers what they want, but still leave them wanting more? And does it link to the most effective kind of page on your site – squeeze page, sales letter or a blog?
