In What Ways Does A Volcanic Eruption Alters The Surrounding

By Guest

When you walk on the earth, you may be unaware as to what lies beneath it. Yet during an earthquake, you would surely get a notion that something is going on under the ground you move on. There is much of heat deep down inside the earth, which is why a lot of houses use Louisville geothermal heating systems. Through a Louisville geothermal heating pump will extract heat from under the ground and give it to your entire living place. However, apart from machines using it, the heat under the Earth’s crust is most visible when volcanoes erupt.

Many science books explain in detail the working of a volcanic eruption but what happens after the eruption? A volcanic eruption brings about many changes in the overall surrounding. In all, this may either be advantageous for the environment or harmful. However, it is a natural process, and you cannot do anything to escape its adverse effects.

Initially, it is the air that is affected by an eruption. All volcanoes may be different. While a few erupt with a great jerk, others may be calm. With an eruption, an enormous spell of gases leaks into the air. These gases (mainly comprising of carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, carbon monoxide, hydrogen, and methane) are expelled into the surrounding. All of these gases increase the probability of an acid rain. With the eruption, small rock particles may be splurged into the air which occupy the space that was to be taken by gas particles. As a result, the air around the volcano is thick and smothering. Moreover, they have the ability to move over long distances which makes them able to take these heavy volcanic gases all around the world. Similarly, the ash particles in the air cause breathing disturbances in individuals. These ash particles form a thick layer on the areas around. When these meet water, they form a mud-like mass which is tough to remove.

Changes in the landscape around a volcano are immense. When magma moves down, it takes everything along with it such as the trees, plants, animals, buildings and roads which lie in the stream of this lava are burnt. When this lava cools, a hard rock forms on the surface and if it rains after the eruption, the water and wind will result in breaking of this rock and this will finally become a fertile soil.

Plants, animals and humans are also influenced by the eruption. However, humans and animals are capable of surviving the changes. The ash is tolerable until it is hot or it covers the food. However, trouble arrives when ash goes in water. The danger is not only done to the marine life, but also to other animals and humans as water is the necessary element they need to survive. In short, a volcanic eruption does much damage to the entire ecosystem, yet luckily, neither does the eruption nor the aftermath of the volcano last long. Therefore, it is not tough to survive after an eruption.

Connor Sullivan recently contacted a Louisville geothermal specialist to fix a problem at his office. He had a Louisville geothermal heat pump installed to provide an energy efficient heat to his home.
