How To Avoid Scams Involved With Home Biz Opportunities

By Tomie Rayn

There are a lot of home biz opportunities available for people looking for a way to generate an income from the convenience of their homes. Unfortunately, with this opportunities also come a lot of scams from people looking to prey on those individuals. Don’t be scared away from all opportunities you come across though, as long as you know what to look for you can easily avoid becoming a victim. All you have to do is educated yourself on what warning signs to look for.

The first thing you should evaluate about any online opportunity is whether you are going to be selling an actual product or service or instead selling the business opportunity itself. If the opportunity is more about getting others to join you rather than selling something it is highly likely it could be one of the several thousand scams that can be found online.

The next thing you need to do is inquire about any investments you have to make in order to enter the opportunity. In most cases you will be paying to join another members downline in the company. The pyramid scheme, as this is commonly called, is one of the oldest tricks in the book and still very common. You only make money by getting others to sign on into your own downline. This money is usually the money they have paid to join just as you did when you came on board. In most places this type of business concept isn’t illegal but just because the law permits it doesn’t make it a great opportunity either. It’s a quick way to lose a lot of money and cause others to lose a lot at the same time.

Next you can look for the types of payment methods this company received. Do they accept Paypal and credit cards? Scams usually ask for payments only in the form of wire transfers because you can’t dispute them and have them reversed. Just about any legitimate business you encounter will accept either Paypal or credit cards and in most cases both.

Not all home biz opportunities are going to be scams but to protect yourself from the ones that are you should carefully evaluate and research everything before you jump in and especially before you give them any money.

If you just aren’t sure about something it is usually best to play it safe and not get involved. Legitimate opportunities are easy to find information on and you should be able to find others online who will testify to their claims.
