Online Business – Solid And Basic SEO Practices That Still Matter

By Hazel Knox

SEO happens to be one of the most widely used form of marketing. There are millions of sites on the Internet and the search engines do a great job in indexing all those sites and giving users relevant information. Optimizing your site for the search engines increases the likelihood of your targeted niche finding your site. The SEO tips in this article are important to remember as you design and update your site.

It does make a difference, and it does matter that your site is ready and equipped to handle serious traffic. In other words, even before you start getting visitors from the search engines make sure your site is completed. It is never adviseable to have an incomplete website when you start getting visitors. You’ll lose any potential customers because of it, and they will not return – plus it just looks very amateurish. So don’t have the “coming soon” or the “under construction” sign up when you start getting SEO traffic as this will only push people to check out other options.

You will always need to have the best quality content you can manage to get, unique and high quality. Content will always be king in the online world, so your site needs to have articles that are not only useful to the visitors but are also unique for the search engines.

In some of your pages, don’t overdo it, but you can bold or italicize your keywords/tags in your content. That is just something that will help you, everything contributes something, and it’s not used on a lot of websites, either. It seems search engines will add a little more SEO weight to these words. Never do too much with SEO, like overdoing it, because that is always viewed as something that is not good. So just a few times and that will help you out. And be sure to use h1 and h2 tags along with your primary and secondary keywords and phrases. They’ll become more valuable and relevant for the search engines in terms of optimization. what you’ll also be doing is optimizing each page for its own primary keyword/phrase plus some additional secondary keywords.

A huge part of SEO is the correct usage of your keywords throughout your website. The correct positioning of your keywords will absolutely help you to rank not only higher, but faster as well. If you can, choose a domain name for the overall site primary keyword phrase, then in your site use the appropriate keywords in your link anchor text and even in your ALT tags for any images you may use. The search engines need to know what keywords you are targeting so that they can rank you accordingly. In conclusion, search engine optimization can be seen as a strong skill that allows you to get high quality traffic on targeted topics. It’s critically important to choose the best and right keywords, and do make sure you don’t use Flash anywhere. If you do proper SEO, you’ll be looked upon as an authority site, and others will begin to have more trust in you as well as the search engines.
