Why You Should Start A Membership Site

By Jim Connell

A membership site can be a great way to help people reach their dream of being self-employed. They want to have more time to themselves and be their own boss. Many people try to do it by starting their own online business. Unfortunately no matter how hard they try most people will never make enough money to replace their paycheck.

One of the biggest challenges they face is earning a cash flow large and steady enough to replace their paycheck. Without this they will never have the financial stability that they get from their current employment. Of course nothing is completely secure, even a job. Layoffs, downsizing and a bad economy can all end the illusion of job security. Starting an online business puts you in control but it also gives you the complete responsibility of earning enough money each month to pay your housing payment and take care of your family.

A membership website can produce that steady monthly income for you. If you had just 100 members paying $10/month, you would have a monthly income of $1000 a month. This money would come in month after month like clockwork. If you have the right topic for a membership site, you could possibly achieve this in the first month.

Now let’s think a little bigger. Let’s say you had 200 members paying you $20/month? Your membership site is now producing a nice $4000/month. What would $4000 per month do for you? Would it replace your current income or just be an extra $4000 per month? Would that change your lifestyle? Does the thought of having 200 members paying you monthly seem difficult?

To keep it in perspective, think about how many magazines exist today. Most magazines have tens of thousands of subscribers with some much larger. Just think of all the people who are passionate about their interests and hobbies? Almost any hobby or niche that has a devoted following can turn into a membership website.

Now let’s ramp it up even more. What kind of revenue would you have if a membership site had a thousand members? A magazine would go broke if they only had a thousand subscribers, but you would have a five figure monthly income with a thousand members to your site. Even if you never reach five hundred or a thousand members your site can still be very profitable with just a few hundred. Don’t think you need massive numbers of people.

A membership site provides the steady pay check of a very well-paying job, but without the job! This is a reality for people who run successful membership sites. You don’t have to worry about where the income is going to come from next month or the month after. Your members will pay you through automatic payments month after month for as long as they remain a member.

This is one of the biggest reasons why you should have a paid membership site. You could wake up each day making as much money or possibly more than you’re making on your current job from the comfort of your own home. Imagine the security you’ll feel knowing that good income will continue to come in even when you’re sick or on vacation. This is the reality for many people have started a membership site.
