Lead Capture Improvements for Your Website.
By Mitch Tarr
Websites almost always have a “Contact Us” page on it somewhere. You can usually see it in the site navigation. This page will typically ask for your name, your email address, and has a comment box. The idea is that you’ll find and use this page when you are ready to make an inquiry.
It just doesn’t work that way.
How many of these forms do you receive each month? How many of these are quality leads? How many of these are even leads at all?
Try these four ways to generate more leads on your site. Lead capture is easy to do if your follow these simple tips.
1. Ethical bribe. An ethical bribe is a newer marketing term that suggests you ‘bribe’ a website visitor into giving you their email address in exchange for something. You could offer a free analysis, a coupon, a discount, a free gift, a newsletter–anything that might be of value to your target audience.
2. Create a squeeze page. A squeeze page is a very unique type of landing page which has one job. And only one job. To encourage a visitor to leave their email address in exchange for an ethical bribe or sometimes just to move to the next page to see an offer. There is no navigation or other choices on the page. You sign up…or you leave.
3. Offer valuable information. Most businesses know how to do things. They have information. Many potential customers search the web looking for information. A powerful way to use squeeze pages or ethical bribes is to provide valuable information in exchange for an email address. You’ll find people are very comfortable to have you send this information via email–thus starting the relationship.
4. Offer a free evaluation. Evaluations are a compelling reason for a prospect to be interested in hearing from you. They may want to gain access to your expertise and use the evaluation to help clarify their thinking or needs. Place an email signup form on your site to make an offer like this.
Then what you have to do is count how many leads you are receiving from your “Contact Us” page, make changes using some of these lead capture methods and count the number of leads you receive after the changes. If you don’t notice any change in lead flow, then make different changes and measure again.
Do these four things well and you’ll get more leads!
