Amway Global was founded back inn 1959 as nothing more than a company that would allow people to “sell soap”, recruit others, and make a profit off everyone’s sales. Little did they know that fifty years later it would be one of the largest private organizations in the world. However, many detractors keep talking about the Amway Global Business scam. Is there really a scam, or is it nothing more than competitor concern?
Its product line aside, Amway Global got some bad press in the 1970s because many newcomers to their affiliate marketing program were offended by its over the top religious zeal. People who just “bought into” the company and were invited to their first local rally were lectured to by one new “millionaire” after another, espousing the benefits of being involved in such a successful organization and praising Jesus for their success.
Rallies were seen as nothing more than an opportunity for those who had found success, to get up on stage and give credit to where credit was due – according to them – to Jesus. And not everyone agreed that Jesus should be at the center stage of what many perceived as a real business opportunity.
Amway Global’s popularity seemed to change weekly. But even with some bad press, no one was ever able to come up with anything that could be considered negative when it came to the products! They were and are superb; some of the best quality any company can offer.
To become a salesperson with Amway Global, one needs to just purchase a starter kit which consists mainly of paperwork and small samples of their popular products likes SA8 and LOC, their all around household cleaner. Then, you’re pretty much on your own.
New sales reps are at the mercy of their uplines. There seems to be little cohesion when it comes to how to train new people in order to succeed. Uplines might have “meetings” but they are nothing more than get togethers to meet other new people. There is no formal structured training program to train anyone.
People complained, business was affected, recruits quit and bad press ensued. Ultimately, Amway Global dealt with every issue head on, fixed problems, and addressed concerns. It is still one of the most successful retailers in the entire world.
