Maintaining Your Car Through Polishing

By Eric Allen | December 29, 2009

You have to spend an enormous sum of money to purchase a good car. The expense that an individual or a family makes on a car is only second to that of their house. Therefore, one has to be conscious of routine care and servicing in order to keep a car in perfect running condition in the future. The pains involved in thorough maintenance of a car can be annoying to most people. Every single feature and detail of a car like its engine, tires, body etc. have to be taken care of if you want your car to keep giving you a hassle-free ride.

The external part of a car can usually give a adequate idea of how well it has been maintained. This is the reason why car polishing is one of the vital elements of car maintenance.

Foaming pads, which are used to apply polish to the cars, come in three varieties – convex, concave and the waffle. These pads are designed to soak the polish to their centre rather then leaving it to move to their edges, and thus they allow you to apply the polish evenly.

Washing the car is necessary before you begin polishing it. The car’s surface must not have any dust or dirt deposited on it. For appropriate rinsing, cleaning agents made exclusively for cars must be used. After the car is polished, it should be waxed properly, as this makes the polish sit on the car’s body for a longer span of time.

Car polishing and waxing, apart from giving a gleaming interior, also prevent corrosion of the car body. With these two coatings, the car is shielded from moisture and its damaging effects. The exposed parts of your car’s body are particularly susceptible to the damaging effects of rusting, and therefore grazes, no matter how minor, must be made up by paint.

When polishing the blend edges, work away from the boundary. The most recommended procedure for a blend edge is to hand glaze instead of machine polish. When you have to hand glaze, always a fabric that is not rough and make sure it is clean for both the coating and when taking the glaze off.

Car polishing is an art, which involves a great amount of detailing to get that perfect texture and shine for a car. Hence it is essential to call in specialists for this activity.
