Do More And Stay On Track Throughout Your Day

By Roger Chestnut

Pareto’s Principal states that approximately 80 percent of all your accomplishments are a result of only 20 percent of your total effort. This easily explains the critical role that time plays in our daily lives. If you can figure out how to control and master your time, you can achieve more while working less.

You can get ahead with a few simple time management strategies. If you priorities correctly, you will function at your highest level despite any frustrations or pressures you might face. In order to help you get on track and achieve the most throughout your day, consider these helpful hints:

First, always plan ahead. If you are aware of what is coming up and what needs to be accomplished, you can get it all done. If you move swiftly between tasks, you will reduce the amount of time you waste. By making yourself aware of your tasks, you can accomplish more much easier.

Create a reasonable routine and stick to it. You don’t have to work like a horse to get things done if time is on your side. Minimize your workload and stress by following a routine. This will tell you what to do next. Learn to adjust your own behavior and performance to your daily routine to get things done quickly.

Take longer breaks. That’s right! You can have longer breaks if you work for long periods of time and perfect your routine. Rewarding yourself this way minimizes the time needed to refocus following a short break.

However, do not entertain unscheduled interruptions. That means don’t engage in gossip, entertain unexpected cubical gusts or allow phone interrupts. If you do, you will surely accomplish less and waste a lot of time. Keep in mind that it’s more difficult to refocus yourself following these interruptions. Avoid distractions and keep your mind as focused as possible on your to-do list.

Do not spend the entire time reading or researching. Although these steps are important, make sure you balance this with getting actual tasks accomplished. If you need help getting your workforce to accomplish more, look for a quality time-keeping solution.
