The first one has been around for many decades, while the other one is quite a bit fresher. This is a giant head start for building a really nice downline. The problem about this scenario is, it rarely happens. Most people find out rather quickly that their warm market doesn’t want to be manipulated into joining a program they aren’t interested in; and their cold market is even less receptive.

While some people with outgoing personalities have done well with the old style of getting MLM leads, the more modern method relies heavily on the Internet. There are a number of advantages to this. For one thing, you do not have to keep trying to get your loved ones to join you, after they have told you many times they are not interested.

Instead, you can get your message out to individuals who are actively looking for an income opportunity, including those who specifically want an MLM program. Then they will contact you, and ask you to give them more information. Most of the time, they will only give you an email address, but sometimes you will get phone numbers with the best time to call them.

This is known as targeting your prospects, and it is the single greatest thing you can do to get quality MLM leads. It is like the difference between selling shoes door to door, or having a shoe shop in a mall. You will make a lot more sales in the mall than on the front porch because people who want shoes will come to you.
