One of the ways to be a good leader in your network marketing business is by setting an example for your team. Often times an sponsor will not lead his or her organization, instead they provide some standard operating procedures book and tell them to follow it. Others are micro managers, not allowing their team to learn to work on their own or grow in their positions. Both types of leaders (using the term loosely here) create problems in their own business and prevent the success of their business.

It is very important that you provide the best guidance and training to your team. However you must avoid doing the job for the employee. This is something that needs to be addressed on both ends of the totem pole. Like with any business there is a learning curve that needs to be overcome and most effective leaders realize this. You can practice your leadership skills by offering effective tools to your new partners and by allowing yourself to focus on your own sales. You can also give them a reasonable amount of time to learn their trade or business. This is called leading by example. If you are spending all of your time managing your team and not showing them how to makes sales themselves then this is not leading by example.

Leadership to your team can also be shown through encouragement and acknowledging their successes and achievements. This can also be done in large organizations by making a weekly call for everyone to get on. Make it known to the team who is creating success and ask the individuals to share how they do it. Considering the internet based business often run by network marketing companies, it is inevitable that there would be a certain degree of isolation for the individual business owner. It is this type of community that can support a team to eventually achieve success.

Providing good training is another way to show your leadership skills. Remember as you are training that you do not take the entire work load. You should keep in mind that this business is all about creating liberty for your employees and leveraging your time by using it wisely. Many companies have corporate training and the internet is a good way to find additional affiliate training. On the internet you will be able to find everything from lead follow up training to online marketing training. You should also tell your team to access these valuable learning opportunities. When you show your team where this information is located you need to keep in mind that not everyone will take advantage of this opportunity. More likely than not most will not but this is fine.

The final thing you should understand regarding leadership and marketing is that you should provide support when needed to truly become the leader of your team. This means that your ultimate goal should be that your team is the leader of their team. By supporting them throughout their training period, positive reinforcement, and giving them an overall sense of confidence, by integrating the examples that you have set and to help the other members create personal success. The best way to accomplish this is to make sales for yourself and live the life that you envision.
