If you are looking for a job, then you must first polish a skill for resume writing first because resume is possibly the most crucial part in the process of job search. It gives an immediate impression of your educational background, skills and work experience if any. However, CV or Curriculum Vitae and resume are regarded similar almost all across the globe except for Canada and US.

It is the first document with your details that the potential employer views. A resume is usually short, precise and crisp. On going through the CV, the employer would have developed a fair idea or an impression of you as an individual. The resume shows a few points that mainly suits a job and makes you the ideal candidate. This is usually followed by an interview and perhaps even employment.

CV writing can be categorized into two categories. These are chronological and functional. Chronological format is clear-cut and extremely functional. It is simple to understand and perfect for people who have stuck to a routine and reasonable career path. The events and the experiences are written in a chronological sequence with the most recent job being at the first.

The format of functional CV is followed while shifting jobs. Various functional abilities that are gathered during the working years are described properly. Such format is applied in a CV to tailor it for a specific job requirement. The key focus is just on the skills required for that specific job opening.

There is third category also which is referred as a combination of both chronological and functional formats. It is considered the well balanced CV with functional skill on the top and then followed by the list of employers in a chronological order. However, this format is not much liked because of being too much repetitive.

New age online resume writing is the most popular one today. Most resumes are written online and the employers get them on net. Resumes are chosen to be written, received and even handled only online.

Online resumes are simply written on word document that can easily be handled by employers as well as job seekers. Many employers perhaps however, seek your resume in PDF or HTML also.

Resumes are accessible to all the employers through the search engines today. The keywords will help the employer to locate the candidate who goes well with the job best in least possible time. Therefore, include the right words that are ideal to describe your job skills.

CV writing contains a set of exact keywords that the employer may be looking out for. This makes the scanning much easier. CV with precise keyword is always preferred and generally gets what the applicant is looking for.

With increase in long distance interviews, video and audio CV’s are becoming very widespread too. The employers get to seeing you as a person along with the details needed. There is absolutely no scope of any mistaken identity while taking an interview over the video conferencing or even the telephone.
