How To Use A Water Bag To Keep Insects Away

By Guest

Preparing for an adventure journey with your loved ones is what you might do every year. When you are planning for a sleep in the exciting outdoors, you need to consider everything you might need while you are gone. You should put all your backpacking gear and outdoor camping supplies, the latter which should involve insect repellents. However, when you reach the campsite, you can’t help but wonder what else you must do to keep these troublesome insects away. No matter which insect repellents you buy, those crawlers find a way to arrive at the campsite and ruin your entire your trip. Before you get even more annoyed, here’s a solution. What you can do is hang a plastic bag filled with water around your camp area, and it’s that easy to keep them away!

The main principle behind the crawlers keeping away is refraction. Refraction is the bending of light when it moves from one medium to the other (air and water in this situation). The refraction of light causes insects to have multiple visions which creates confusion for the bugs and ultimately, they experience more than one directions at a time. For this occurrence, light is necessary. When you are at a camp location at night, a light bulb can aid this phenomenon. Likewise, the campfire might also be a great light source.

In order to create such an insect repellent, there are a few measures to follow:

Initially take a plastic bag and fill it with water. Make sure this bag is capable of holding the pressure of the water when it is swinging. The water is the medium that will make the high optic flow for the insects. High optic flow sites are the danger zones for crawlers as this elevates their likelihood to collide. Therefore, they will avoid coming near.

To add more reflection in your plastic bag, include some coins. Ensure that they are shiny. The more sparkly they are the more light they will reflect and the more will the optic flow be. Thus, bugs will have a tough time. You may also wish to add more than one coin. However, do not include so many that the plastic bag becomes incapable to keep them.

Now seal the bag and tie it with a bit of string that is a few feet in length. Ensure that this cord is sufficiently durable to carry the water filled plastic bag when it is hung.

Swing the bag around the location where ticks are bothering you. The presence of light in this site is the key. Along with that, if there is breeze around the location, you can rest assured that things will go your way. This is because breeze will make the bag swing in air, thereby increasing the diameter of the danger zone.

Finally, what you can do is follow the aftermath. Take a close look at the populace of the insects and find out whether your repellent has affected them. If you have been successful, swinging more than one water bag is also going to assist.
