One of the most lucrative ventures requiring extensive preparation is the importing and exporting business. Succeeding in this industry is depending on your ability to get the venture up and running properly and your adherence to trade guidelines set by your home country and with other countries you think you should exchange products with. If you feel that you are capable enough to run a company in this particular industry, you should read on to know how and where to start.

Establishing contact with embassies in foreign countries where you plan to trade goods is the first step in starting your venture. Upon establishing contact, ask them the information you need like industry directories and lists of manufacturers.

Find professionals who serve the government and establish a good working relationship with them. Communicate regularly with the consulate department of the country you live in to properly prepare you for the import of goods. In addition, you should contact the Taxation Department so you acquire a unique registration number for your company.

Make sure you know the licenses required. In most countries, operating licenses are not required unless your venture plans to trade high-risk items like liquor, certain food, and medical drugs. It is a good choice to start your venture with low-risk products to avoid dealing with restrictions.

Avoid dealing with nations with embargoes imposed. Make sure to get in touch with the government to get updated with countries with trade barriers recently imposed.

So you do not end up in trouble related to import and export, check your bank and ask if you can obtain a Letter of Credit for trading internationally. Before banks issue money, they make sure goods are delivered and received.

Formally starting operations requires you to name your importing and exporting business. To name your venture, all you need is one that describes the products you intend to trade with and the countries and regions you make deals with. Also, it is recommended to make a name so simple that it can be easily remembered.
