The Battle Between Electronic And Mechanical Watches

By Jack Wogan

It is said that the time of the mechanical watches is long gone. This is a fact admitted by the clockmakers. Their job started to loose ground. Still, a mechanical watch is a unique mechanism and it is fascinating to open the case and see how it works. It looks like a mechanical organism. It is true that a mechanical watch needs our help to wind it up; that its “heart” beats audaciously.

In the past, a mechanical watch was the emblem of the people who respected themselves. It meant a symbol of power, elegance, style and the list may continue only with positive aspects. Think of the models washed with gold. They offer certain grandeur to the owner and a social status. The mechanical watches used to have this privilege. It is true that they needed to be wound up; that they may show an error which may be of about 5 seconds. But if we are not at a race, five seconds may not be that significant in comparison to the complexity of the processes which take place there in the case. Think of the designs, of the song of the ticktack which may remind us of our family as this is the watch of their youth.

Durability is one of the aspects which comes in everyone’s mind when we talk about a mechanical watch. If it is well serviced and wound up according to the requirements of the model, a watch like this may be left as heritage. Maybe it is not precise in matters of seconds, but as a whole, it is more than reliable.

In a word, the new watches try to adjust according to the requirements of the new epoch. Maybe the mechanical watches are more conservative and emphasize on elegance and style. Maybe the electronic watches are more suitable for the kind of world we live in. This is a decision you have to take.

Bearing in mind that people are not all alike and they have different special needs, Most watches tried to meet their requirements before the buyer even realizes it. You certainly have where to choose from.

Seiko Watches, a way of satisfying all needs.
