What To Do To Get More Customers To Visit Your Store

By Mark Walters

What is the fastest way to increase sales? It is by increasing the number of people who come to your store. Assuming that nothing else in your store changes, an increase in the number of shoppers through the door is fastest way to a bigger bottom line. So, how do you coax more shoppers into you store?

- Place an ad in your local newspaper. If you live in a small community, a small ad in the local newspaper can have a big effect on how many people are drawn into your establishment. The ad does not have to be full page or in color or an insert consisting of lots of pages. Make sure that your add emphasizes some interesting or particularly attractive aspect of your business. If you carry seasonal or holiday items or even everyday items, reminding available shoppers about your merchandise is a sure way to draw shoppers in. Advertising is an excellent way to increase profits.

- Spend some time making sure that the front of your store is appealing. Every day hundreds, and if you are in a really good location, thousands of potential shoppers will walk past your store. Some of them will know what you sell and come in just because of that. If your storefront is very appealing, some people will be drawn inside just to see what you sell. Take a good look at your window display and make sure that it is fresh and appealing. Consider buying an awning for the window. It not only makes the store look better but it will make your store stand out from other nearby stores.

- Give your current customers a reason to tell their friends about your store. It has been proven that the best kind of advertising that you can get is word of mouth. It is certainly worth focusing on because as well as being the best kind of advertising it is also the cheapest. You need to make sure that something about you or your is worthy of people mentioning to their friends or family. How? By treating every single customer with care and respect, however small their purchase may be. You would be surprised at just how many people someone will tell if you treat them well.

- Be sure to participate in community events and make yourself known in the community at large. Do not forget to donate to community causes like parades, celebrations and school fundraisers. By doing this you get your name out into the community and generate more advertising for your store. Community members will associate the name of your business with all of the good that you have done for the community and will come into your shop and spend money. This is an easy way to create profits.
