First you will want an account if you do not already have one. The software and account are 100% free. Also available are optional premium accounts for additional features such as owning land, but they are not must have.

You could also rent land from other residents if you want it. This is not like Final Fantasy Online or EQ! This is the 3D internet for the future!

As soon as you have your account and Second Life is in your computer you will need to adjust yourself with the world and how it works.

There are usually perfect tutorials for this right within the world. I reccomend visiting the help areas on the Second Life website as well.

As soon as you are used to with the mechanics of Second Life you can begin to think about what you could do to make $$$ there.

The possibilities are really endless! Some things you could do are; Clothing, Making Buildings, Modeling, Creating Animated Things, Sculptures, Hairstyling, Avatar skin & Shapes, Rings & Necklace, Shoes, Fun Extras, Furniture, Weapons, Vehicles, or start your own business venture.

The whole world is run by the players who use SL!

When you choose what you want to do you can then learn how to do it. This is where you want to find a good guide and some links to help you through this important step. As well I highly advise finding a copy of “Your Virtual World Business Guide – Success through creativity in the Second Life world.”

It has included full color tutorials and step-by-step explinations that you will not find anywhere else.

Sims with damage enabled are rare, but if you see a heart by your name that means the area allows combat. Don’t worry, if attacked you will return to your home. Go grab that book and get started!
