Home Improvement Guidelines – How To Make The Most Of Your Modest Bedroom Space

By Anna Branan

If you approach the project carefully and thoughtfully, you can use some creative ideas to turn a small bedroom unto the space of your dreams. Without over-decorating the space, you can put a wide variety of small bedroom designs to use, adding your own special creative twist to convert your bedroom into an area that is interesting and easy to live in.

The first thing you should do is toss out all that furniture you don’t want anymore. These pieces take up a lot of space in a small bedroom, and just make it look cramped and small. So which pieces of furniture are essential for a small bedroom? You have to have a bed, table and chair, wardrobe, shelf and a mirror.

Don’t use bulky ornate pieces, but rather simply designed, slim furniture. You want to stay with unadorned, slender borders, which won’t take up much room and will make the furniture look smaller. One classic decorating idea for the small bedroom is to fold up a study table against one wall.

And if you have a box bed, you will have plenty of extra storage area underneath, which is always important in a tight area. Your bed headboard should have plenty of shelves – another traditional design nugget for the small bedroom.

For some extra interest, use a decorative rug under the wardrobe and arrange a few throw pillows around the room.

Try to stick with neutral colors when coming up with a design for your small bedroom. A splash of darker color here and there is good, but keep the majority colors light and neutral. White with a splash of color is good for bedding, rugs and shelf borders.

White laminates with a hint of color on the furniture is also a good choice. Choose colors like olive green, purple, chocolate brown or silvery grey. If you don’t want to use white you can also go with a light cream, beige, or a very light yellow.

You’ll want a mirror in the room with enough space in front of it for use. You’ll also want to make sure that there are enough lights in the room.

All of these design tips can work together to produce an unforgettable decorative scheme for a small space. Just be sure that all the essential items are included and all the unnecessary items are thrown out, and you’ll be well on your way to creating a roomy area where you can relax and enjoy yourself.

The writer also often blogs about things such as the folding clothes drying rack and laundry storage.
