Professional Web Page Design Tips

By Steve Jocks

Why do so many businesses fail to generate traffic to their website? Could the reason be poor web design, cheap web hosting, and bad on-line marketing? Many “webmasters” fail from the very beginning without knowing how they did it. If your a newbie to the web design and marketing field, you should do fine. There are many tips and trick I can give you to help you out. This is a given opportunity every webmaster should consider, follow these basic tips and use them when needed. If you do not have an on-line website, consider getting a professional web design company to help you get started.

Why should you streamline your website. When starting a new website you should focus on streamlining products and services after you develop good content. Develop your content first and then worry about where to place your products and servcies next. In addition, before you start creating web pages, you should map out the first 100 web pages of your site. Structure your website in away that it makes sense to visitors and search engines. Furthermore, when mapping your website out on paper, consider using broad keywords in your web site navigation and use specific keywords in the sub-navigation pages.

Why should you design a website around content? Don’t worry, even the professionals can’t get this concept right! When you design a new website your objective is to focus on publishing new content. In my experience, this is by far the best way to design and create a website. Web design is not only about making a website look good but also about creating unique content for visitors. For instance, you should publish between one and five new article each week. Next, you should tell people about your new content using social networks, blogs, or send emails to get the word out. You can also use twitter or article marketing to tell others about your website. Twitter is the best way to keep people up-to-date.

How can you increase website traffic online? If you use more the 10 to 30 different marketing sources that you can improve your taffic by at least 500 to 750% or better! It will all depend on how you market your website and your marketing strategy. Here is an example, I love to use different social networks, blogs, and article marketing websites to promote new products and services. Can’t you do the same? You may also choose to use Google AdWords and other advertising pay per click websites as well. Futhermore, doing offline advertising can also help you improve sales. Running an ad with your local newspaper can get some interested people in buying products or services from your online store.

Its chess, not checkers! If you remember nothing else; remember this, “web design is not a means to an end.” Meaning, you can design your home page a million times and still get the same results. Why do I say this? The answer is simple; if you are not publishing new content to your website, then who cares about your home page that has change a thousand times within that last year! Don’t design and re-design your website every month. Focus on your core message and create new and exciting web page full of good content and you should do great! Remember, it’s a business and not a hobby!
