Nooks, Crannies And Keyword Research

Looking for some fun? Whatever you do, Don't Click Here!

Online or offline, a time tested method of succeeding in business is to focus on an unexploited area. But how? Well, here it is!

What is Your Nook and Cranny in the Business World?

In business jargon, a nook can be best defined as something that is to be focused on in business. There are a zillion sites selling movies, but very few selling French movies from the 1960s. If there is sufficient interest in such movies, you could build a business around selling such classic movies. This concept applies to any business area regardless of whether you are selling products or offering services.

It’s okay – you are no longer in school, daydream all you want. Most people make the mistake of focusing on a subject that they think will make a ton of money. Problems can occur with this approach because if you have no inherent interest in the area besides money, you will eventually grow disillusioned with it. You want to find joy in your business, right? Of course you do – last thing you want to do is punch in your time card, do your job and punch out at the end of the day. Okay, now back to personality and imagination.

You need to give serious thought to your interests, and not just your interests today. What have you always been interested in? Don’t worry about how you will make money, just focus on the subject matter. Remember the clich – find something you love and the money will follow. This is exactly what you want to do. Worry not about the money and how to make it until you have come up with an idea you are confident with.

Two words you want to be familiar with if you are planning to launch an Internet business would be keyword research. Keyword research is all-encompassing, which further highlights its importance in online commerce, as by simply typing a phrase, you can see all those words and phrases people all over the world enter in the major search engines. And since you want to be familiar with the numbers, you can see how often these phrases are searched per day. Doing keyword research lets you determine if there is enough interest in your area and the exact phrases your prospects are using to find things in the area. Doesn’t it sound so neat now that we explained it?

As for specific tools, there are quite a few. Overture offers a free tool that will give you a general idea, but is not the most accurate. As for Wordtracker, it is far more powerful, yet expect to fork over a few smackeroos for this one. A third tool would be Keyword Discovery – just about as powerful, yet just about as costly. As you can see, you have a wide range of options for doing your keyword research.

Once you have a good idea of what phrases your prospects search, you can conclude with confidence whether there is a market or not in your area. And once you have the exact phrases collated and analyzed, it is easy to tailor-fit your marketing campaigns and sales strategies accordingly.
