The Don’t Of Online Marketing

Too often, companies are looking for the right things to do when it comes to online marketing, that they overlook all of the things they shouldn’t be doing. Does this sound familiar? Find out here what mistakes to avoid when optimizing your website.

Wanting your visitor to register for your newsletter or product is a reasonable goal. However, asking your visitor to do so before they’ve even had a chance to enter your website is not so reasonable. You first have to prove that you’re so great that if your visitor doesn’t sign up, they’ll truly be missing out.

Make sure your URL is short, concise and memorable. Having a domain name that is too long will make it harder for people to link it to other spaces. Use a precautionary method of choosing a short domain name.

Many websites with several pages do not have a search option. If your website has more than one page, it needs a search box. This makes it more convenient for your visitors to find what they are looking for.

Give your visitors the option of bookmarking your page. Who doesn’t want a repeat visitor? Make it easier for your visitor to bookmark your site and they’re more likely to come back for more of what you have to offer.

When you create a contact page, provide more than your e-mail address. Sure, e-mail is great but some of your visitors may want to talk directly to someone about your service or product. You never know what the possibilities are, so don’t limit your options simply because you didn’t think of it.
